Two debt syndicate bankers leave Credit Suisse

Devesh Ashra, head of Asia debt syndicate, and Hital Desai, a director on the syndicate desk, have left Credit Suisse.

Credit Suisse’s head of non-Japan Asia debt syndicate, Devesh Ashra, and Hital Desai, a director on the syndicate desk, have left the bank, according to sources.

Both were based in Hong Kong and it is rumoured that they are headed to another bank.

Ashra was transferred from Credit Suisse’s New York office to head the debt syndicate desk in Hong Kong in June 2010, after the departure of Peter Pellicano, who left Credit Suisse to pursue other interests.

Before moving to Hong Kong, Ashra had worked on Credit Suisse’s syndicate desk in New York. He has worked within the Latin America debt underwriting business and on US distribution of emerging markets and regional new issues.

Desai joined Credit Suisse in July 2010 after working on the Asia debt syndicate desk at Goldman Sachs for two years and, before that, he was with Goldman in London working within fixed income.

Credit Suisse declined to comment.
