Goldman Sachs continues to lead the Asian league tables for equity capital markets, while HSBC heads the debt capital markets tables.

Equity capital markets
Volume in the Asian equity capital markets reached $1.1 billion from 18 transactions this week, the lowest weekly deal count in 10 weeks (week of October 3, with eight deals raising $201 million). This brings year-to-date volume to $162.4 billion, down 45% on the $297.6bn completed in the same 2010 period.

Zhejiang Satellite Petrochemical’s $313 million IPO through Guosen Securities was the biggest transaction this week. A $262 million IPO for GS Retail was also completed through Woori Investments & Securities, Korea Investment & Securities and Shinhan Investment Corp, which is the fifth-biggest IPO in the retail sector for the region so far this year.

The top three banks in the league table rankings remain unchanged, with Goldman Sachs taking $13.1 billion, followed by Morgan Stanley and UBS

Debt capital markets
Two Asian borrowers raised $312 million in the G3 debt capital markets this week, the biggest of which was a $192 million trade for Posco through bookrunner Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

HSBC continues to lead the bookrunner ranking wth $10.2 billion, followed by Citi and Deutsche Bank.
