Credit Agricole’s investment banking arm is expanding its financial institutions group into Thailand. The French bank has hired Panida Tangsriwong to head the new Thai group, which will offer financing and advisory products to financial institutions in Thailand.
Tangsriwong is returning to Credit Agricole’s financial institutions department after leaving three years ago to join Standard Chartered, where she was head of investors and intermediaries in the same department. She has also worked at HSBC, where she managed client relationships in the institutional banking group. At Credit Agricole, she will report to Thierry Hebraud, senior country officer for Thailand, and Frederic Laine, head of the financial institutions group, international client coverage, for Asia ex-Japan.
“As part of its three-year Asia strategic plan, Credit Agricole CIB is deeply committed to strengthening its financial institutions franchise in the region,” said Patrice Couvegnes, the bank's senior regional officer for Asia.
The bank has been trying to win new financial institution clients in Asia since mid-2010, when it reshuffled some of its senior management in Hong Kong to reflect the new focus, including moving Laine from his previous fixed-income role.
