Treasury appointments, March 9

A roundup of the latest CFO and treasurer moves from around the region.

China Newtown Development, a planner and developer of large-scale new towns in China, appointed Chun Pang Ng financial controller on March 1. He joins the company with more than 10 years of accounting experience in the US and China and is a qualified accountant, registered financial planner, certified risk planner and certified crisis consultant. Ng holds a bachelors degree from the UK's University of Bolton and a masters degree from the University of Wales.

On March 2, Rajeev Agarwal became CFO of EastNets, a leading global provider of compliance and payments solutions, to support its business growth plans. Based in the company's Dubai headquarters, he brings more than 19 years of professional and managerial experience to Eastnets. Prior to his appointment, Agarwal was CFO at OceanLake Commerce, a US-based wireless communications software technology developer.

The Enzer Corporation appointed Yung Kang Yang financial controller on March 1. Enzer provides retail and distribution of audio equipment and accessories through its subsidiaries in Singapore. Prior to joining the company, Yang was an audit manager at Baker Tilly TeoFoongWongLCLoong Singapore.

James Brodie took over as interim CFO of Singapore-listed Eunetworks Group after Brenda Ann O'Keefe declined to relocate to the London headquarters and resigned. Brodie will be based in the British capital and will handle all of the European data services provider's finance activities. A fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, he has a bachelors degree from the University of Manchester.

Media Prima, a leading media investment group in Malaysia, will appoint Mohamad Ariff Ibrahim CFO on April 16. He replaces outgoing Amil Izham Hamzah who decided not to renew his contract with the company. Ibrahim is currently the CFO of the New Straits Times Press Malaysia.

Singapore's Q and M Dental hired Yu Xiong Sim as its first CFO after its financial controller Jian Huang resigned. Sim's appointment is effective April 6 and Huang will leave the company on May 31. Sim will take over all of Huang's responsibilities and report to Q and M Dental's chief executive officer Chin Siau Ng. Sim is currently CFO of Singapore-based bathroom and sanitary product supplier Water Atelier. 

Gareth Evans took over as acting group executive of finance at Australia's Qantas Group after group CFO Colin Storrie resigned on March 5. Qantas Group is the corporate parent of Singapore-based Jetstar Asia Airways and Vietnam-based Jetstar Pacific Airlines. Storrie cited health and personal reasons for his departure. Evans was previously CFO of Qantas Airways, the group's main subsidiary. He joined the company in 1999.

Chak Fu Li was appointed CFO of Singapore-based Sky China Petroleum, replacing Iris Ang. Prior to his March 3 appointment, Li was financial controller at Seven Seas Textiles Industries based in Hong Kong. Sky Petroleum is an investment holding company that provides a range of technical and drilling services. Li holds a bachelors degree from the University of Buckingham.

Thanh Cong Textile Garment, a Vietnam-based textile and garment manufacturer, appointed Nguyen Minh Hao chief accounting officer, replacing Nguyen Thinh Trong. Announced last week, the appointment was effective February 22.

Manufacturer and supplier of indium, Unionmet, promoted Mei San Lee to CFO on March 1. Previously financial controller, Lee originally joined the company in December 2008 and holds a bachelors degree from Nanyang Technological University. She is a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Singapore.

Nguyen Thi Thu Thao replaced Nguyen Dong as chief accountant of Viet-Han Corporation on February 1. Announced last week, Dong remains deputy director general of the company. Viet-Han is a technology equipment manufacturer.

The Western Union Company named Drina Yue senior vice-president and head of Asia-Pacific on March 4. She is responsible for growing its consumer-to-consumer money transfer business, adopting innovative delivery channels and addressing new market opportunities in the region. Hong Kong-based Yue reports to Hikmet Ersek, chief operating officer of Western Union. Before joining the company, she was the head of broadband communications and home and network mobility for Motorola in Asia-Pacific. Yue has been in the telecommunications industry for 25 years and holds both a bachelors and masters degree from the University of Illinois in Urbana.

Chinese float glass manufacturer Zhejiang Glass appointed Eric Po financial controller and joint company secretary. He was previously CFO of another Hong Kong-listed company. Po graduated with a bachelors degree in business studies from the City University of Hong Kong and is a member of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.
